Sponsor-A-Classroom Urban Program

adoptaclassroom

We are looking for corporate sponsors to help bring entrepreneurship and financial literacy to at-risk students in urban schools. The Sponsor-A-Classroom program will provide students with alternative career choices and an understanding of financial literacy to prepare them for the real world.

Students complain that school is “boring” and the lessons taught are “not relevant”.

Schools in America need more than core academic classes to unleash innovators of tomorrow. Small businesses represent 99.7 percent of all U.S. employer firms. The R U Ready 4 BIZness curriculum will birth small businesses that will reignite the fuel into our nation’s economy.

According to the National Consortium of Entrepreneurship Education, the U.S. is experiencing a rampant rate of students dropping out without the knowledge to succeed in advanced education or perform successfully in their jobs. Students complain that school is “boring” and the lessons taught are “not relevant”. Yet the growth and demands of today’s expanding global economy call for a highly educated, skilled workforce that can meet the needs of competing industries. We must answer the silent cry of our children to teach them in a way that makes them want to learn.

Over the short term, dropouts suffer disproportionately from a host of societal ills. These include:

• Crime and incarceration
• Unemployment and/or low-wage “dead end” jobs
• Teenage pregnancy
• Poverty
• Shorter life spans
• Poor health
• Civic disengagement

Students cannot enter into prosperous careers without this educational foundation. Over a lifetime, high school dropouts earn $1 million less than the average college graduate. In effect, teenagers, many of whom are not yet ready to drive or to vote, are making a million dollar decision when they opt to drop out. Overall, researchers estimate that each dropout generates approximately $260,000 in taxpayer costs over the course of his or her lifetime.

We are asking for your support to sponsor one or more classrooms in an urban school for $4500 each. Let us work together to decrease the dropout and unemployment rates in America for the next generation.

A sponsorship includes:

30 Student Textbooks
30 Student Workbooks
1 Teacher Book
1 Entrepreneurship Trivia Game
A two-day training to enable teachers to become certified R U Ready 4 Bizness coaches
