There are thousands of grants that can help bring RUReady4Bizness to your classroom or organization. Here are some that you may apply for:


 

Adopt-A-Classroom

How can Adopt-A-Classroom benefit my classroom?

Adopt-A-Classroom connects teachers with community partners that provide funds for classroom resources. Teachers register their classrooms and publicize their needs through various methods (social media, links on their classroom page, emails, etc).  Interested parties donate to the classroom in need. The funds are managed through the Sponsor-A-Classroom database and the supplies are shipped to the classroom.

Who is eligible to apply?

Any K-12 classroom teacher is eligible to apply for the Sponsor-A-Classroom Program.  Administrators are not eligible.

What are the requirements for the application?

You must complete a classroom profile with a classroom description of at least fifty words.

How are applications selected for funding?

Adopt-A-Classroom provides a resource to the general public to donate to specific classrooms.  The classrooms are chosen based on individual responses.

Up to how much may I request?

Adopt-A-Classroom does not have a limit on how much may be requested for a specific classroom.

When are applications accepted?

Applications are accepted anytime; there are no deadlines.

How do I apply?

Applications can be completed online at  www.adoptaclassroom.com.  On the home page, click on “Register Your Classroom” and complete the application form.


 

American Express Foundation

How can the American Express Foundation benefit my classroom?

American Express offers grants for nonprofit organizations to provide for community needs.

Who is eligible to apply?

Grants are awarded only to organizations that are certified by the IRS as tax exempt, nonprofit organizations, specifically 501(c)(3) or 509(a)(1), (2), or (3).

What are the requirements for the application?

A letter of inquiry must be submitted with a brief description of the organization, a synopsis of the program and a statement of how it will be sustained following the grant period.

How are applications selected for funding?

Funding is determined by the proposal and the progress of the program. Geographical locations with high priority are listed on the bottom of the page at http://about.americanexpress.com/csr/howto.aspx.

Up to how much may I request?

Requests for more than $7,500 must be accompanied by a grant report signed by the CEO, President, Executive Director, COO, CFO, Vice President of Finance, Controller, or Treasurer.

When are applications accepted?

Applications are accepted anytime; there are no deadlines.

How do I apply?

Go to http://about.americanexpress.com/csr/howto.aspx. Create a letter of inquiry (see sample on webpage) and submit the form to your geographical location for your (add) contact information.

 

Association for American Educators Classroom Grant

How can the Association for American Educators Classroom Grant benefit my classroom?

The Association for American Educators program is dedicated to helping educators create a classroom community that encourages growth in student education.

Who is eligible to apply?

All educators are eligible to apply for grants, but priority is given to Association for American Educators members.

What are the requirements for the application?

Educators have to fill out a summary of the classroom grant request in 150 words or less.

How are applications selected for funding?

Funding is very competitive and is awarded based on how they will be used.

Up to how much may I request?

Classrooms may request up to $500.

When are applications accepted?

The deadlines for online and mail-in applications are 11:59 pm EST October 1st and March 1st.

How do I apply?

Go to http://www.aaeteachers.org/index.php/classroom-grant-application and complete the application at the bottom of the page.


 

Bank of America

How can Bank of America benefit my classroom?

Bank of America is dedicated to helping local communities that share a common need.

Who is eligible to apply?

Organizations that are tax-exempt under section 501(c) (3) and are not classified as a private foundation may apply.  Individual schools pre-K-12 (private or public) are not eligible for this grant.

How are applications selected for funding?

The applications are based on the specific community needs. The organization must be based in one of the forty-four markets where Bank of America donates.  The list of the forty-four markets can be found at: http://www.bankofamerica.com/foundation/index.cfm?template=fd_markets.

Up to how much may I request?

The Neighborhood Builders program can fund up to $200,000.  The Local Heroes program can fund up to $5,000.  The Local Grant Making program varies based on community need.

When are applications accepted?

There are no application deadlines; applications are reviewed throughout the year.

How do I apply?

Go to http://www.bankofamerica.com/foundation/index.cfm?template=fd_grantprograms. Select either “Local Grant Making” or “Neighborhood Excellence Initiative” and fill out the application.


 

The Coleman Foundation

How can the Coleman Foundation benefit my classroom?

The Coleman Foundation is an independent grant-making foundation supporting educational institutions offering entrepreneurship education.

Who is eligible to apply?

Grants are made only to organizations that are certified by the IRS as tax exempt, nonprofit organizations, 501(c) (3) or 509(a)(1) and that are not private foundations.  The Foundation’s primary geographic focus is the Midwest region. International programs are not eligible.

What are the requirements for the application?

A letter of inquiry must be submitted with a brief description of the organization, a synopsis of the program and a statement of how it will be sustained following the grant period.

How are applications selected for funding?

Funding is determined by the proposal and the progress of the program.

Up to how much may I request?

There is no minimum or maximum fund request.

When are applications accepted?

There are no deadlines for this grant.

How do I apply?

Go to http://www.colemanfoundation.org/how_to_apply.html and follow the instructions on the page.  A letter of inquiry must be submitted. The Foundation will advise you if a full proposal will be needed for further review.


 

Fund for Teachers

How can Fund for Teachers benefit my classroom?

Fund for Teachers awards educators for their professional growth and their ability to make a difference in those they teach.

Who is eligible to apply?

Either individual teachers or a group of at least two teachers may apply for this grant.  Teachers must have at least three years of teaching experience. The teachers must be teaching in eligible geographic areas.  A list of the eligible areas can be found at:  http://www.fundforteachers.org/apply.php.

What are the requirements for the application?

On the cover sheet, you must provide a 1-2 sentence (no more than 150 characters) description of the project. The entire proposal cannot be more than 18,000 characters (including spaces and punctuation) and the text cannot be formatted (i.e. italics).

How are applications selected for funding?

Selections are based on the expansion of teachers’ knowledge for student education.  The teachers’ goals must be applied to the school community and the students’ growth and learning.

Up to how much may I request?

Individual teachers can receive up-to $5,000 and a team of teachers can receive up-to $10,000.

When are applications accepted?

The online application must be submitted by 5:00 pm CST on January 27, 2012.  The cover sheet (first page of the application) must be postmarked by January 27, 2012.

How do I apply?

Go to http://www.fundforteachers.org/apply.php, select your region, and begin the application process.


 

ING Unsung Heroes Program

How can the ING Unsung Heroes Program benefit my classroom?

The ING Unsung Heroes Program provides funds for classroom projects “that are short on funding but long on potential.”

Who is eligible to apply?

Non-profit organizations looking to teach financial literacy, provide children’s education (including diversity education) and/or promote environmental sustainability.

How are applications selected for funding?

The program must follow the ING Foundation’s application criteria by falling into at least one of the categories:

  • Financial Literacy
  • Children’s Education
  • Diversity
  • Environmental Sustainability

Up to how much may I request?

There is no limit to how much can be requested, but there is a minimum of $2,500.

When are applications accepted?

There are two cycles for the application deadlines:

  • Cycle 1: Submission deadline is January 31, 2012
  • Cycle 2: Submission deadline is April 30, 2012

How do I apply?

Go to www.ing-usafoundation.com.  On the bottom right-hand corner select Quick Links and select the “Application for Grants and Scholarships.”  You can only apply online.


 

The Meemic Foundation for the Future of Education

How can The Meemic Foundation benefit my classroom?

The Meemic Foundation provides financial support for classrooms and educational programs of all types.

Who is eligible to apply?

Any employee of a Michigan K-12 public, private, charter or parochial school, as well as colleges, universities may apply for a Meemic Foundation grant.

How are applications selected for funding?

Every grant application is carefully reviewed by the Foundation selection committee.

Criteria for selection include:

  • The number of students who will benefit from the program.
  • A demonstrated need for funding.
  • How the program will enhance current and future education.
  • Up to how much may I request?

Grants are awarded up to $2500 each. The request cannot exceed the cost of the program.

When are applications accepted?

Applications are due by June 30 for fall projects. Applications for winter/spring projects are due by October 31.

Grants are awarded up to $2500 each. The request cannot exceed the cost of the program.

How do I apply?

Applications can be completed online at www.meemic.com. On the home page, click on “The Meemic Community” tab and follow the links to the Meemic Foundation grant application.


 

National Financial Educators Council (NFEC)

How can NFEC benefit my classroom?

NFEC provides educators with a group of sponsors seeking to fund financial literacy education.

Who is eligible to apply?

Any educator looking to teach financial literacy is eligible to apply.

How are applications selected for funding?

NFEC provides the database for sponsors to select programs to allocate their funding.  NFEC does not have a direct influence on the application selection process.

Up to how much may I request?

The grant amount varies depending on the corporate sponsor and the need of the educational placement.

When are applications accepted?

The application deadlines vary based on the corporate sponsors.

How do I apply?

Applications can be completed online at www.financialeducatorscouncil.org.  You have to purchase the Grant Guide under the “Grants and Funding” link, but the database provides information about corporate sponsors.


 

We Are Teachers 

How can We Are Teachers benefit my classroom?

We Are Teachers is a database that connects teachers with other teachers and offers resources for becoming a more effective teacher.  Teachers can apply for grants to increase the effectiveness and innovation of their teaching practices.

Who is eligible to apply?

Any teacher for K-12 teacher is eligible to apply for the We Are Teachers program.

What are the criteria for the applications?

Every corporation has its own criteria for the applications.  Apply online to find out the criteria for each sponsor.

How are applications selected for funding?

We Are Teachers provides a voting poll for the grants submitted. Colleges vote on the grants that provide lessons and environments that are innovative and effective.  The grant topics vary depending on the sponsors.

Up to how much may I request?

The average grant amount is $200, but it varies depending on the corporate sponsor.

When are applications accepted?

The application deadlines for the various grants are different depending on the corporate sponsors.  Check www.weareteachers.com often for updates on the corporate sponsors.

How do I apply?

Applications can be completed online at www.weareteachers.com. At the home page, click on “Join” and complete the registration.  After completion of the registration, click on “Apply for a Grant.”
